About Water & Power Development Authority
Launched by an act of parliament in 1958, WAPDA was established to amalgamate the conservation of construction that was previously carried out by the provincial committee. Its chairmen, who started as very effective public officials such as Ghulam Ishaq Khan, Ghulam Faruque Khan, and Aftab Ghulam Nabi Kazi were eventually the president of Pakistan, minister of commerce, and economic adviser respectively. The thermal electricity management that was once one-packaged at WAPDA was reorganized into the recently created Pakistan Electric Power Company in October 2007.
